Parents and Guardians,

The Arizona Department of Health Services has released the latest data on COVID.

November 8th –

404/100,000 (cases per 100,000) SUBSTANTIAL TRANSMISSION

21.9% (positivity rate) SUBSTANTIAL TRANSMISSION

6.7% (Hospital visits) MODERATE TRANSMISSION

November 15th -

567/100,000 (cases per 100,000) SUBSTANTIAL TRANSMISSION

23.7% (positivity rate) SUBSTANTIAL TRANSMISSION

7.4% (Hospital visits) MODERATE TRANSMISSION

Since there is a 2 week lag in the data that is released, these figures will most likely increase due to celebrations over Thanksgiving. Once again, our top priority is the health and safety of our students, staff, and community.

After much consideration, the following will be our schedule through the rest of December.

December 10 will be the last day of hybrid instruction. We will dismiss on Thursday, December 10th at 1:00 p.m. We will be 100% virtual the week of December 14 through the 17th. Teachers may prepare packets to send home for students and then have office hours for students to ask questions OR they may instruct their classes virtually depending on grade level. Reading material will be sent home for students over the break. Teachers will be working from home.

The instructional aides will be on campus in order to provide on-site learning required by Executive Order 2020-41(3)(b). This executive order requires that schools provide in-person support services such as student supervision and strategic support for students in need. We will limit this number to students who truly need support/supervision because they have no one at home or no caregiver who can provide support during standard school hours. Aides will also be progress monitoring all students (virtually) during the week of December 14th. All students will be given the time for their Zoom meetings for the progress monitoring.

Meals will be delivered to all students. While we will have deliveries twice a week, we will be providing breakfast and lunch for all five weekdays.

The Office will be open during the week of December 14th.

I want to thank all of our parents, guardians, and staff members for all the work that has been done this year. Our students are so lucky to have so many people working together for their benefit. We are almost through the first half of this unprecedented year and that is a major accomplishment. We are so lucky that our staff members who have had COVID seem to have come through and are doing well. I would like to thank everyone for taking care of our students and each other.

I would like to be able to tell you the school’s plan for reopening on January 4th – BUT we will be monitoring the COVID data and consulting with the Health Department before making any decisions. We will keep you updated with all information that is available to us. Please keep checking Class Dojo, Facebook, and the school website for the latest information.

Once again, thank you for all your support. Everyone at WES would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season.

Any questions? Please don’t hesitate to call or message us.

Mrs. Jameson
