Hello,

I want to take a minute and welcome everyone back to school for the 2023-2024 school year. I am so excited to be in Wellton. I believe we have a strong team in place, and we will work together to improve as we see the need for change. I will give you a little information about myself. I am a lifelong Teacher/Coach and administrator. I grew up in Minnesota and spent the first 57 years there before moving to South Dakota for 2 years, where I was able to enjoy excellent Pheasant hunting and Walleye fishing before making the final move to Arizona. I spent the last 4 years in Naco, Arizona and we were finishing up a project to rebuild the school and update everything from the HVAC/AC units to new doors, windows and schoolwide security. I am hopeful we can get many similar updates done here in Wellton and have a newer campus, that is more up to date, secure and efficient as far as energy and in our education process.

We hope to bring back some things this year such as the Student of The Month program, eating breakfast in the cafeteria and some items that we can change and improve on the fly this year.  I do not want to change things that are working well, so we will see as we move through this first year, what we can do to make our campus more welcoming for our staff, students, community members, as well as visitors.

Why did I go into education? Well, my father was a coach, teacher, and principal for over  35 years. Both of my daughters are teachers and coaches in Peoria, Az. and Hood River, Or. My mother on the other hand, was a law clerk and worked in the court systems.  Growing up, we moved for my dad's jobs. Because of this, the importance of education was placed on us from birth, and I have always shared that with my daughters, grandchildren and the players I have coached. A career in education has changed quite a bit over my years. I still believe there is no career more important than working with our youngest minds and helping them grow.

We hope to challenge your children to succeed and also allow them to enjoy their time in school. We appreciate your support and hope that they all enjoy the challenges, can stay healthy, and be in school in order for them to have a fair chance to succeed and to have great memories of their time at Wellton Elementary School that will last a lifetime.

Again, thank you for your time, and support. We look forward to partnering with you to educate your students this year!

Sincerely,

Tim Mayclin
